Louisville Keeps Three-Star QB Dre’Mail Carothers Home
On Thursday afternoon, Louisville received the news they had been waiting for, landing a commitment from three-star quarterback Dre’Mail Carothers. The Kentucky native chose the Cardinals over North Carolina, giving Louisville its quarterback of the future in the 2027 recruiting class.
Carothers, who stars at Owensboro Catholic High School, has emerged as one of the top uncommitted quarterbacks in the region. At 6’4 195lbs, he possesses the size, athleticism, and play making ability that college programs covet. His ability to extend plays and remain poised under pressure has made him a rising prospect on the recruiting trail.
Louisville has been heavily involved in Carothers’ recruitment since March and quickly identified him as its top quarterback target. That persistence paid off, as the Cardinals were able to keep one of Kentucky’s top prospects in-state. His commitment continues Louisville’s strong recruiting efforts within the Bluegrass State and adds another important piece to an already impressive class.
Carothers now becomes one of the cornerstone offensive commits in Louisville’s 2027 class. More importantly, his pledge answers one of the biggest questions for the Cardinals moving forward by securing a talented signal-caller to build around. With their quarterback now in place, Louisville can turn its attention toward adding more playmakers around him as the class continues to take shape.
