Georgia Tech lands Four-Star OT Kal-El Johnson

Georgia Tech's impressive month on the recruiting trail just got even better.

Four-star offensive tackle Kal-El Johnson announced his commitment on Thursday, giving the Yellow Jackets another major addition to their 2027 recruiting class. As well as continuing what has been a pivotal June for Brent Key and his staff.

He chose Georgia Tech over LSU, North Carolina, Indiana, and Maryland.

The 6'6, 305lbs offensive tackle from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio became one of the top offensive line targets on Georgia Tech's board. Their persistence paid off as the Yellow Jackets steadily built momentum with the talented Ohio native before ultimately securing his commitment.

The Yellow Jackets made a significant move during his visit, and by the end of the trip, Georgia Tech had clearly positioned itself as one of the teams to beat. The visit left a lasting impression on Johnson and his family, helping separate the Jackets from a highly competitive group of finalists.

Head coach Brent Key played a major role in the victory. Georgia Tech emphasized its plan for Johnson's development and the opportunity available within the program.

He already has the frame of a Power Four offensive lineman. His size immediately jumps off the film, but it's his strength and power that truly make him stand out. Johnson is capable of overwhelming defenders at the point of attack and consistently generates movement in the run game. He plays with a physical edge and enjoys finishing blocks, making life difficult for opposing defensive linemen.

His raw power allows him to control defenders once he gets his hands on them, while his size creates natural advantages in both pass protection and run blocking situations.
