“Border War” Kansas-Mizzou Rivalry Attracting Recruits
LAWRENCE, KS — The Border War returns to Lawrence for the first time in over twenty years, and Kansas is making the most of it for recruiting efforts.
#23 Missouri visits Kansas on Friday night at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on FOX. Both teams enter the game at 1-0. The Jayhawks and Tigers haven't faced off in Lawrence since October 2005, when Kansas won 13-3. Last year's matchup in Columbia went Missouri's way, 42-31, after the Jayhawks let an early 21-6 lead slip away.
Kansas is coming off a 52-6 win over Long Island, where the Jayhawks amassed over 600 yards of offense with first-year starter Isaiah Marshall at quarterback and Andy Kotelnicki calling plays again. Missouri opened its season with a 54-14 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Some commitments won't be attending in person, but they are locked in from afar.
Three-star offensive lineman Nick Vecrumba: "I unfortunately won't be in attendance but I know it will be a great game and a great atmosphere too. I got Kansas winning 28-24. Rock Chalk!"
Three-star quarterback Chance Thomas: "Won't be there unfortunately but I do really think this is our year!"
Four-star tight end Mason Oglesby: "It's a big rivalry game and will be a good test to our team this year. I'm looking forward to seeing the game. I won't be there but I'll be watching the score when I can."
Kansas is expected to host one 2027 commit and a group of 2028 targets, led by two of the top in-state prospects in the class.

Marshall and Zubeck are the two to watch. Both are four-stars from within the state. Getting them in the building for a ranked rival under the lights is exactly the kind of weekend that moves the needle.
