Penn State offers Will Wood
State College, PA - Westwood, Mass. QB William Wood was on campus Monday morning for the second time this spring. The difference? This visit ended with an official scholarship offer from none other than Head Coach Matt Campbell. Wood, who plays for Xavien Brothers High, has been a target of the staff since taking over in Early December. I had the chance to speak with Will this afternoon, following his visit and the offer from the staff. He spoke very favorably about his standing with Penn State and what this offer means to him.
“The visit today was awesome. I got a chance to get a full visit on March 28th, but today it was just talking ball for an hour and a half. Then, I met with Coach Campbell, Coach Mouser, and Coach Waters. I have a great relationship with everyone over there. This offer means the world to me. Penn State will be at the top of my list.”
While Penn State looks for its future QB, another hurdle looms in the form of top 100 prospect Peter Bourque, who is closing in on a decision sooner rather than later. Bourque, who de-committed from Michigan in February, is set to announce his decision between Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Georgia in the near future. That reportedly is not going to push Wood into rushing into a decision. He is taking his time through the recruiting process and making sure not to rush a decision. He will head to North Carolina for an unofficial Visit on Tuesday and has three official visits scheduled with West Virginia, Arkansas, and Boston College.
