Report: Brendan Sorsby Reportedly Logged Over 10K Bets Since 2022

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby

Brendan Sorsby is now at the center of a major college football storyline after On3 reported that Texas Tech is weighing his deal while the NCAA examines gambling wagers.

According to the report, Sorsby allegedly at one point averaged around 20 bets a day and placed more than $10,000 in wagers. If confirmed, those numbers would raise serious questions about sports betting’s growing impact on college athletics.

The situation comes at a time when gambling has become easier than ever for fans and athletes to access. With betting apps everywhere, schools and the NCAA have placed a bigger focus on education, rules, and enforcement.

For Texas Tech, the situation could become more complicated because Sorsby is tied to a major deal. Now, the program may have to weigh both his value on the field and the possible concerns off of it.

As more details come out, this story could become another example of how sports betting is changing college athletics. NIL has already changed the money side of the game. Now, gambling concerns are becoming another major issue schools have to deal with.
