WHO IS DERON RIPPEY JR?

‍ ‍. Deron Rippey Jr is a 6’2 five star point guard from Blair Academy in New Jersey. He was one of the top recruits in the class. Rippey is ranked as the number 1 point guard in the 2026 recruiting class. Rippey played on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.   The AAU team he played on was the New Heights AAU team. Deron Rippey Jr was one of the biggest stock risers from the 2023 Nike EYBL Peach Jam. After the Peach Jam, he continued to play at a extremely high level. During his senior season at Blair Academy, Rippey averaged 16.2 points per game, 5.3 assists per game, and 4.9 rebounds per game. He also averaged 2.2 steals per game! This dynamic guard committed to Duke on December 30th, 2025.

‍ ‍In past years, Duke has not gotten a highly talented point guard like Deron Rippey Jr. Duke has not seen an explosive, dynamic, elite point guard like Deron Rippey Jr. since Kyrie Irving. Deron was named a McDonald’s All-American!  Deron Rippey Jr. will fit in perfectly with Jon Scheyer and Duke’s scheme on both ends of the floor. He is a tough defender which fits right in with how Duke likes to defend. Rippey’s elite playmaking ability will be massive for the Blue Devils next season! Deron is elite at finding a way to attack the basket. Next season is going to be electric with this youngster in a Duke jersey!
