2027 RECRUITING CLASS TARGETS
Jon Scheyer is dominating the recruiting trail is nothing new to Duke Nation. Jon Scheyer has had the No.1 or No.2 recruiting class each year he has been at Duke. The 2027 recruiting got off to a blazing start over this summer. Duke has already landed one commitment from Kager Knueppel. Kager is a 4 star forward in the 2027 class. Kager Knueppel is the brother of Duke legend Kon Knueppel. Jon Scheyer has picked up where he left off on the recruiting trail yet again this summer. Duke is targeting high level talent in the high school ranks. Duke has offered a handful of players in the 2027 cycle. It is truly impressive to see what Jon has done on the recruiting trail the last 5 years. Some say that Jon Scheyer has elevated the Duke Brand to new heights with the recruiting he has done over his 5 years. Duke has targeted and offered a variety of players. All of these targets are winners and bring different strengths to the game.
Duke Targets:
5 star PG Beckham Black (#1 in the ESPN 100)
5 star SF Demarcus Henry (#2 in the ESPN 100)
5 star SG Adan Diggs (#4 in the ESPN 100)
5 star C Lewis Uvwo (#8 in the ESPN 100)
4 star SF Asa Montgomery (#28 in the ESPN 100)
4 star PF Kager Knueppel (#33 in the ESPN 100). COMMITTED
4 star Deng Ngor (#150 24/7 sports ranking)
Duke has scheduled a visit with a player listed above. A lot of these high profile recruits will either be in attendance for Countdown to Craziness or taking visits in the near future. For example, Asa Montgomery announced he has scheduled his visit to Duke on October 2nd through the 4th. We will see whom joins Asa in a visit during Countdown to Craziness weekend as more news comes out day by day. Asa is an elite small forward whom is extremely versatile. He can do it all on the offensive end. The 4 star SF is a great defender. His ability to defend at a high level and shut people’s water off is elite. We will see over the next few months what happens with the Asa recruitment. In my opinion, i believe we are in a really good spot with Asa.
Beckham Black is the #1 player in the class. Beckham is a unique player. The kid is special. He can do it all at the point guard position. Black is super crafty and shifty. He is an extremely high IQ player. He is a point guard that Duke has never had. Black’s shotmaking is elite. Black makes people around him better. He would be a potential Day 1 starter for Jon Scheyer. The Duke staff have been all in trying to get him to Durham. Time shall tell with this recruitment. Some other schools in the mix for Black are UNC and Arkansas.
Lewis Uvwo is the #8 player in the 2027 class. Lewis is a target that has been a priority for the Duke staff. Lewis Uvwo is the best center in the class. He is extremely versatile. He can switch on any guard. However, what makes Uvwo great in my opinion is his rim protection. Uvwo is an elite shot blocker. I believe he is a generational talent when it comes to his shot blocking. He is super dominant on the defensive end. Lewis has shown over the summer his physicality on both ends of the floor. Lewis has an extremely high motor that never stops going. I am very excited to see if Scheyer and the Duke staff land this kid. We will see what happens with the big fella over the next few months.
Deng Ngor is the 150th ranked player in the class is a prospect to keep a close eye on. Deng Ngor was teammates with Maxine Meyer over the summer for Team Canada. Ngor is a raising star in this class. He’s stock just keeps rising each and every time he takes the floor. Ngor is between Florida, Washington, Ohio State and Duke. There is strong belief that Ngor will end up commiting to Duke. His commitment to Duke would be a huge piece for the 2027 roster. Ngor is still very raw and would still need to be developed a little bit.
All 4 of these targets that are mentioned above, i firmly believe Duke is in a really good spot with in each of their recruitments. It is going to be interesting to see what happens from here. Duke already landing a commitment from Kager is huge for 2027. Kager is a slept on prospect in my opinion. Kager’s game speaks for itself. The other targets that are mentioned in the list above are still up in the air. For example, Demarcus Henry was an late offer that happened a couple weeks ago. Adan Diggs seems to be a west coast team lean from everything BDE has heard. But time will tell with that recruitment. Duke nation should feel very good about the position we are in for the 2027 class. As a lifelong Duke fan, I am extremely confident Jon will have another monster recruiting class in 2027. The future is bright in Durham folks.
