What Christian Gurdak offers to Rutgers

Christian Gurdak gives Rutgers the much-needed boost they have been looking for at the big man position. After his freshman year at Virginia Tech, Gurdak entered the transfer portal and chose the Scarlet Knights over the likes of UCLA, Purdue, and Seton Hall, among others.

His size is legitimate; at 6’10” and 260 lbs, Gurdak uses his frame exceptionally well on the offensive end. He possesses a soft touch around the rim, shooting 63% from the field. He also operates effectively in the pick-and-roll and constantly crashes the glass to create second-chance opportunities.

Gurdak averaged 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in just 17 minutes per game, showing impressive flashes in limited time. Most notably, he scored 17 points and grabbed 19 rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting in a triple-overtime thriller against ranked Virginia. While he isn't the flashiest player on film, he runs the floor well for his size, finishes strong at the rim, and crashes the boards at a high level.
