Three-Star OT Stafford Willis Commits to Alabama

Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have landed a major in-state recruiting win, securing a commitment from three-star OT Stafford Willis out of Arab High School in Arab, Alabama.

The 6'5 290lbs offensive lineman announced his decision late Tuesday night after an official visit to Tuscaloosa on June 19. Giving the Crimson Tide their first offensive line commitment in the 2027 recruiting class.

Willis chose Alabama over a strong group of finalists that included South Carolina, UCLA, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. While South Carolina appeared to hold significant momentum throughout much of his recruitment, Alabama's late offer changed everything.

The Crimson Tide entered the race later than several of Willis' top contenders, but once Alabama extended an offer, the hometown program quickly surged to the top of his board. For an in-state prospect with SEC aspirations, Alabama proved difficult to turn down.

Willis took a full slate of official visits before making his decision:

  • South Carolina (May 1, 2026)

  • UCLA (May 15, 2026)

  • Virginia (May 29, 2026)

  • Virginia Tech (June 5, 2026)

  • Alabama (June 19, 2026)

The final visit to Tuscaloosa ultimately sealed the deal.

On the field, Willis has built a reputation as one of the more physical offensive linemen in the Southeast. He is an absolute mauler in the trenches and thrives as a run blocker, consistently generating movement at the point of attack. His strength and power stand out immediately on film, allowing him to overwhelm defenders and finish blocks with authority.

Those traits make him an intriguing long-term fit for Alabama's offensive line room. As he continues to develop his technique and athleticism, Willis possesses the physical tools necessary to become a future contributor for the Crimson Tide.

With Willis now in the fold, Alabama secures its first offensive line commitment of the 2027 cycle and adds another talented in-state prospect to the foundation of the class. The Crimson Tide won a hard-fought recruiting battle, and keeping one of Alabama's top offensive line prospects home could prove to be an important early victory in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
