Feedback Following Penn State’s Second Prospect Camp

STATE COLLEGE - Penn State has completed its second of three prospect camps for players from the 2028 and 2029 classes. The camp was headlined by some of the top prospects in the state of Pennsylvania, and others from surrounding states that PSU fans should be keeping an eye on moving forward. I had the opportunity to catch up with some of the players following their attendance at the camp. The prospects were asked to answer three questions: How would you describe the energy of the new staff, how would you describe your relationship with your position coach, and could you see yourself at Penn State if given the opportunity?

James “Booboo” Armstrong (2028 four-star QB) - Hopewell, PA - “The energy was great, all of the coaches seemed like they really cared about everyone at the camp. We (Coach Waters and I) have a great relationship; he’s one of my favorite coaches I’ve talked to. Definitely (could see myself at Penn State) that’s not a question.”

Arthur Jones IV (2028 four-star DL) - Syracuse, NY - “The energy of the new staff is amazing. They all work in synchronization as a unit, achieving their goals. My relationship with Coach Smith is just getting started. It was amazing being able to work with him outside of the camp.”

Rasmus Haines (2028 QB) - Massillon, OH - “The energy of the new staff was amazing. They were a great group of coaches who shared valuable advice and coaching with the entirety of the athletes at the camp. This camp was my first time meeting Coach Waters, and it was a great experience. He was very willing to share his knowledge of the position and specifics about the mechanics the quarterbacks at Penn State use. If I were given the opportunity to play for Penn State, I could most definitely see myself there. It’s been one of my dream schools since I was younger, so it would be a blessing.”

Oscar Webersink (2027 three-star OT) - Oakdale, CT - “I never got the opportunity to meet the old staff, but I think the new staff is building something unique! They seem to have a lot of creativity and tempo whilst still being experienced. I had a great conversation (with Coach Clanton) where we talked about our backgrounds. I talked about my journey playing football and how he’s used to training tall guys to get lower, and so forth. I could definitely see myself going here, excited about my OV and getting a feel for the campus and the football program!”

Penn State’s final camp date for the summer is scheduled for 18 June 2026. One thing has been made clear by the prospects: there is a new energy in Happy Valley, and something special is brewing!
