The Latest On Four-Star S Mekhi Williams After Florida State Decommitment
On Sunday morning, Florida State lost a crucial piece of its recruiting class when four-star safety Mekhi Williams announced his decommitment from the Seminoles. As Williams continues to take his official visits, it became increasingly clear that Florida State would have a difficult time holding onto his pledge.
He announced, “This decision wasn’t easy, but God has a plan for me and I know this is the best decision for myself. Thank you God for the opportunity and I just wanna thank you in advance! I just wanna thank all the coaches for the opportunity to be a part of your program. After careful consideration, and a long talk with my family, I have decided to decommit and will not be attending Florida State. I truly appreciate the time, effort, and support you have shown me throughout the process. I wish the program success. Thanks again to the coaches for everything! Thank you Nole Nation!”
Wisconsin has quickly taken advantage of the situation, hosting Williams for an official visit to Madison this weekend. The Badgers appear to have made a major impression, as Williams left campus no longer committed to Florida State. Luke Fickell and his staff are making a strong push to land one of the Sunshine State’s most talented defensive backs.
While Wisconsin has done all the right things throughout the process, Williams remains a recruitment to watch closely. Nebraska is the only official visit remaining on his schedule, and he has already completed a visit to Maryland.
With where things currently stand, it’s hard not to like Wisconsin’s position in the race for the talented four-star safety.
