Bukky oboye commits to auburn

Auburn has made a major frontcourt addition with the signing of Santa Clara transfer Bukky Oboye. The 7 foot 1 center officially joined the Tigers on April 17, giving Auburn more size and rim protection as it continues to reshape its roster for the 2026 to 2027 season. Oboye had been linked to Auburn during the portal process, but now the move is official, and it gives Steven Pearl’s program a much needed interior piece.

Oboye is coming off a strong season at Santa Clara where he started all 34 games and averaged 7.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in just 17.7 minutes per game. His growth last season helped Santa Clara reach the NCAA Tournament, and Auburn is betting that his length, activity around the rim, and upward trajectory can translate well in the SEC. He is not just a depth add either. Auburn clearly sees him as a player who can help fix some of the size issues the team dealt with last season.

What makes this pickup especially interesting is how it fits Auburn’s bigger offseason plan. Oboye is the second 7 footer Auburn has added for next season, which shows a clear effort to become bigger and more physical in the paint. For a team trying to stay in the national conversation, adding a developing big man with real length and defensive upside could end up being one of the more important quiet wins of the portal cycle.
